Since 1985, the New York State Fair Wildlife Art Exhibit, located in the Horticulture Building, has become one of the favorite stops for fairgoers. This popular exhibit, containing the efforts of some of New York's finest wildlife painters and sculptors, has been recognized over the years as "the must see" display on the fairgrounds, and is considered by Fair officials as one of the three "jewels" of the annual Exposition. By design, it is comprised of renderings created by selected artists, all of whom approach their particular art form in a personal way. Therefore, what you view reflects an overview of not only subject matter, but different media. The common denominator is wildlife. Each piece is an original work, there are no reproductions.

The New York State Fair Wildlife Art Exhibit has become an increasingly popular event at the New York State Fair. This juried show proudly presents the works of New York resident artisans annually in the Horticulture Building at the New York State Fair, this year being held Thursday, August 20 through Labor Day Monday, September 1.

In 1998, the exhibit was enlarged and features a completely new display area. Continuing this year, the exhibit will feature a display section for our New York wildlife artists under the age of 18. The Youth Division, open to any New York resident 18 years of age or younger and still in high school, will showcase the skills and talent of those destined to become the well known artists of tomorrow.

Demonstrations will be held from 10 am - 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm daily in the exhibit area. Fairgoers are encouraged to stop by and meet some of the exhibiting artists and view their craftsmanship.
