The New York State Fair Wildlife Art Exhibit has become an increasingly popular event at the New York State Fair. This juried show proudly presents the works of New York resident artisans annually in the Horticulture Building at the New York State Fair. The 2008 Exhibit will be held Thursday, August 21 through Labor Day Monday, September 1, 2008.
The show reflects the best efforts of accomplished painters and sculptors as well as pieces submitted by aspiring creators of wildlife subjects. Again this year, the exhibit will include a special Youth Section featuring sculptures and paintings by artists from New York State 18 years of age and younger.
Since it's inception in 1985, when a small group of volunteers donated their time and talent, the results have been astounding. Paintings, drawings, etchings accompany sculptures hand wrought from wood, stone, and bronze reflecting many innovative approaches to wildlife art. State Fair officials indicate that this exhibit is the most asked for by the public and continually request that it be expanded for future years.
